All classes go through an orientation during the first part of the school year. I cover the following topics over a period of time: Through collaborative efforts with the fine educators at our school I also provide lessons throughout the school year as needed. Story time is provided to the Kindergarten and First grade students on a regular basis in the library. The students are encouraged to select the book of their choice and go through the check out process as well. We have recently improved the selection of books for this age group. A list of recommended reading for children age 2 to 2nd grade can be found at the following web address: www.txla.org/groups/crt/2x2intro.htm . I am the Accelerated Reader Program Coordinator. I manage the AR program, order AR books, AR quizzes, administer the STAR test (a reading comprehension test), order and organize prizes for the incentive program and recognize students for their achievements within the AR program. For more detailed information, please click on the AR Elem. link to the right of this page. The library will be hosting a book fair sometime in the spring.
