Grading Procedures

  • Class work, homework, class participation, and computer grades will count for 50% of your grade.

  • Tests, quizzes, and notebook will account for 50% of your grade.

Homework/Classwork Rules:

  • Homework is always due the next class period. We have homework almost every night.

  • Always put your heading on your paper in the top right hand corner except in art.
  • Always write the original problem except for word problems.  Answers only will not be accepted.  Draw diagrams where applicable such as solids, rectangles, circles, etc., so you won't have to write dimensions in the textbook.  Textbooks do not belong to us so we have to take care of them by not writing in them and keeping them covered.
  • Turn in neat work.  Box or circle your answers - even long answers.
  •  All math work will be done in pencil only.  The pen is for grading.  No work will be accepted on spiral paper with frizzies.
  • Put in needed commas, hyphens, and decimals.
  • Word problem answers are to be written in complete sentences.
  • Label answers that need labeled such as inches, miles, meters, etc.
  • Homework assignments will be posted on the wall.  If you are absent, it is your responsibility to check the list to see what you missed or check with me.
  • As soon as your papers are handed back to you after being graded, put them in your notebook in order by date done. Your assignment sheet is helpful at this time.  Look on the assignment sheet to find the order in which we did the work.  Art work will be put in a portfolio.

Classroom Rules

The student handbook guidelines are to be followed first and foremost.  In addition:

  • Bring supplies to class every day.

  • Be seated when the tardy bell rings; sit quietly, be ready to work on daily work or begin on the warm-up on the chalkboard or overhead.

  • Make every effort to attend school regularly.  When absent, be prepared to make up work missed promptly according to the student handbook.  Check the assignment sheet or with classmates to see what you have missed.

  • NO food, candy, drinks or gum allowed.

  • Be kind and courteous at all times.

  • Do not speak out in class unless appropriate to do so.  Raise your hand or get up and walk quietly to the teacher and ask any question you may have if the rest of the class is working.

  • You are not dismissed at the end of class until the teacher dismisses you.  The bell at the end of class is not your dismissal signal; do not put your books away; do not jump up and run to get out of the room.

  • Keep the classroom tidy.  Please straighten the desks, check the floor around your area and pick up any extraneous items or trash and throw away.  Do not try to make baskets and do not get out of your desk to throw trash away until dismissed.

  • You will be issued a pass every six weeks that will entitle you to 5 free visits to your locker or the bathroom.  The 6th time will warrant a tardy and student handbook guidelines will kick in. When you use your pass, you must also take the hall pass with you.  Each time you use your pass, it will be punched and dated so you will be aware how many times you have used it. You are responsible for getting to class on time with all of your supplies.

  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

  • Your cell phone and/or ipod  must be turned off or I will confiscate it for the rest of the period or will take it to the office for you to pick up later.

  • Social visiting is to be kept to a bare minimum.
