Students are selected for membership in the Nueces Canyon Chapter of NHS based on scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and character. 

Tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students with a cumulative grade point average of 90 or higher and who are enrolled for the recommended or distinguished achievement graduation plan are considered for membership.  Those students who earn enough points when rated on the criteria of citizenship, character, and leadership are invited to join the elite society.
